Early Years
Thomas J. Morrisey Jr. was born on August 22, 1948 in or near his home town of Dover New Hampshire in Stafford County. It appears as though Thomas lived in New Hampshire for his entire life as that was his enlistment state was. In addition, Honor States had Dover listed as his city in their archival record, meaning he grew up in the same hometown for his entire life ("Thomas J Morrisey" Honor States). Dover, NH was--and still is one of the state's larger towns. It is located in the southeast corner of New Hampshire, on the state's coastline, meaning Morrisey grew up near the ocean. Although unconfirmed, it is assumed that Morrisey attended and graduated high school like most other boys at the time did. It is known that he did not go to college because he reportedly started his first tour on October 17, 1967, at the age of 19. Growing up in a post World War II country, it is possible that Morrisey heard stories about war heros and how honorable it was to serve for the United States. This could have been one of the reasons why Morrisey decided to enlist in the army despite all the negativity surrounding the United States' involvement in Vietnam. Not much else is known about the early life of Morrisey, and specifics about his childhood are left to speculation. Due to the minimal amount of information on Thomas Morrisey combine with the fact that he never had children, finding information his surviving family is scarce.
